Project Semicolon

From Wikipedia:

Project Semicolon – stylized as Project ; – is an American mental health nonprofit organization that primarily functions as an anti-suicide initiative. Founded in 2013, the movement is aimed to “presenting hope and love to those who are struggling with depression, suicide, addiction, and self-injury”. They have been known for encouraging people to tattoo the punctuation mark semicolon (;) onto their bodies as a form of solidarity between people dealing with mental illness or death of someone from suicide.

I am one of these people. I am affected by a mental illness (well actually two) and I feel that somehow I need to raise awareness to help removing the awful stigmas. Maybe one day I can do a lot more…I hope.

Today I got my tattoo and I am very proud to wear a semicolon on my skin.

  1. I am proud of the stigma that comes with my mental illness (alcoholism in my case). It was well-earned. The whole entire State of Michigan wanted me to sober up. It said so on all of the paperwork…
